The sun shone for us when we helped plant flowers at The Leisure Pool for Beautiful Perth. This year's display has a "Recycling Theme" so the pansies and nasturtiums have been planted into old tyres in the shape of a curved arrow with a heart at the end. We plan to walk back to the pool in a few weeks to see the progress being made. The children were very enthusiastic and it was a happy day out.
All is going well at the allotment with carrots, lettuces, shallots, potatoes, onions, leek and cabbages already in the ground! Weekly visits by the afternoon Happy Hive children are a great success and again, life skills are being addressed. Mr Scarecrow keeps an eye on things when we are not there! The children are learning how to sow seeds and grow vegetables in straight rows using planks as a guide. They are doing very well. We get quite excited at the thought of the progress being made as we watch the vegetables growing!
We have started going to the allotment again with the afternoon children this time. Last year was a great success, so we are hoping to grow loads of vegetables this year again. The children began by sowing lettuce seeds and planting potatoes.
In March, we went to Aberfeldy for a walk at The Birks. It was a glorious day, with the sun shining the whole time. Afterwards the children enjoyed a swim at Breadalbane Community Campus. They just loved it. Then we sat in Victoria Park to eat our picnic and have a play. You can see from our photos what a wonderful day we had!
It was great walking in the sunshine! We had an amazing view from the top of the hill.
We enjoyed a day at Auchengarrich Wildlife Park in November.
