P4/5 rewrote and performed "Oliver and the Seawigs"
They wrote the newspaper headlines of Oliver's parents
going missing on a rambling island off the coast of the UK
and eventually being found on Lewis in Scotland.
They travel around the 4 countries in their campervan
waving to everyone as they go.
They busked in a large town/city in each country to pay for the petrol. They sang they played guitar and even did Highland Dancing.
They created their own Morris Dance...but not as you know it!
They wrote their own parts to the story to explain all about the Seawigs.
They spotted Seawigs off the coast of each country.
They identified a variety of marine life on the Seawigs.
"The amount of litter on UK beaches has been increasing for 20 years."
"Did you know that most of the litter is plastic and it never goes away?"
"Did you know that cotton buds are often flushed down the toilet and are found in huge numbers, washed up on beaches"
"Remember,
Only use the loo
For WEE, PAPER and POO!
"Did you know that a lot of facial scrubs and toothpastes contain microbeads?"
"I found out that fish end up eating them and we end up eating fish. Does that mean we are all eating plastic now?"
"Did you know that in the North Pacific ocean there is a huge floating rubbish dump?"
"Yes I heard it's twice as big as the whole UK!"
"Yes and to think plastic has only been around for 50-60 years."
